Veteran, teacher, small business owner, and member of this community. I think it's time that Grinnell had a leader who is willing to listen to and support its citizens.
I'm running for mayor because I believe in Grinnell.
Let's grow Grinnell, together.
Create New Jobs
It should not be a choice of whether you live OR work in Grinnell. I am committed to recruiting and retaining new businesses that will create a minimum of ten news jobs per organization. With support from local government we can ensure that large industry and small locally-owned shops will have the space and staff they need.
Affordable Homes
If families can't find affordable homes in Grinnell, they will not live here. It's time that we take advantage of existing property and local contractors to build new houses at an affordable price point. We need to better support our families and first-time buyers who are currently struggling to find a place to live.
New Facilities for Our Schools
Our school district is in desperate need of support from city leadership for new facilities. The space is available and local crews have the expertise and capability to do the job. Our children need safe, comfortable, and conducive environments to learn and grow in. New facilities are just another reason that parents can feel good about relocating and staying in Grinnell.
Transparency in Government
How are decisions made? Where is the funding coming from? I believe it's time that these questions were answered and made publicly available for anyone who is interested. Decisions should not be made behind closed doors when they affect the community-at-large.
